The Sharework project has been selected by the jury of the Advanced Manufacturing Awards as the best project in the category of “Automation and Robotic Integration”. Collected by the project coordinator Eurecat Technology Center, this award recognises the project efforts in automating assembly and subassembly processes in four companies thought the integration of collaborative robotics.
The Advanced Manufacturing Awards were held as part of the Advanced Manufacturing congress, celebrated in Madrid, Spain, on October 15th-16th, 2023. The awards were created to give recognition and prestige to the companies in the Spanish industrial sector that innovate creating products and solutions that help to improve any stage of the value chain of a company, making them more efficient, more sustainable and connected.
An intelligent system enabling a safe and ergonomic human-robot collaboration in industry
The Sharework project, ended in November 2022, rolled out a new smart system for a safe and ergonomic collaboration between robots and workers in industrial manufacturing processes leveraging on artificial intelligence and data analysis.
The project developed flexible software made up of 14 technological modules to furnish robots and their control systems with the intelligence required to work closely with operators with no need for physical protection barriers.
Sharework’s system is capable of understanding the environment and human actions by drawing on a knowledge base and sensors, making predictions about future status and getting the robot to act accordingly.
The system was deployed and tested in four types of real-world industrial scenarios in the automotive, rail, metalworking, and capital goods manufacturing sectors.
