The Sharework project has been selected as finalist at the Factories of the Future Awards gala, celebrated under the Advanced Factories Congress on the 19th of April 2023. The project has been recognised amongst more than 170 applications, representing the work, state-of-the-art research, and advances for the digital transformation of the industry.
Sharework has been distinguished in the category of “Best Robotics Project”, highlighting R&D robotics projects carried out between industrial companies, technology centers or robotics manufacturers. The award rewards projects that developed industrial robotics or collaborative robotics solutions implemented in the production lines through integration systems will also be taken into consideration.
Apart from Sharework, the Factories of the Future Awards rewarded Beckhoff for a novel ATRO modular industrial robot system, allowing to assemble appropriate robot kinematics and increasing flexibility, and the Automotive Technology Centre of Galicia (CTAG) for its binpicking system allowing an automatic removal of pieces.
The Factories of the Future Awards are designed to recognize the work, leadership and transformation of those companies that invest in innovation in the industry automation and digitalization, being the Awards mission to foster and promote such innovation to be implemented on the areas of business model, new products, equipment, communication management, operational processes, marketing or customer experience.
The European Sharework project rolled out a new smart system for safe and ergonomic collaboration between robots and workers in industrial manufacturing processes by tapping artificial intelligence and process data analysis. The project developed flexible software made up of 14 technological modules to furnish robots and their control systems with the intelligence required to work closely with operators with no need for physical protection barriers.
