Stefan-Octavian Bezrucav and Nils Mandischer, scientific employees at the Institute of Mechanism Theory, Machine Dynamics and Robotics (IGMR) at RWTH Aachen University, presented their contribution to the Sharework framework at the “VDI Fachausschuss Mechatronik” (translated: VDI experts’ group on mechatronics) on May 7th 2021.
In the presentation, the topics of safety, environment cognition and task planning were covered, giving an overview of some technical packages of the Sharework project. Special attention was paid to the pipeline from camera network input, over item detection and reasoning, to the automated task planning, which is IGMR’s core contribution to the project. With this pipeline, other aspects of the Sharework framework can be realised in high level actions.
The scientific talk was held in front of an interested experts group and was well received. Particular interest was expressed on the local safety system, which has shown new ways for interaction of humans and robots in the industrial and research context.
The VDI is the German association for engineering, similar to IEEE, but with a national focus, and counts more than 150,000 members across Germany. The mechatronics experts group aims to establish new concepts and standards in the field of mechatronics, automation and mechanical engineering.
